Here's a story about Best Buy from quite a few years ago. They had a Maxtor hard drive on sale. This was right around the time that they bought out Quantum. At the time, the true Maxtor drives were decent but the Quantum drives were junk. You could tell just by looking whether it was a real Maxtor or a rebadged Quantum.
Well, I wanted to look at the drive before I bought it. However, they told me that if I bought it, I could take it outside, open it, then bring it back no questions asked! How dumb is that? I finally got the manager to open it - and it was a Quantum and I took a pass. He wasn't happy. At that time, they said nothing about a restocking fee. I find they take the time to consider your needs and lead you to the correct products. Sure you may pay a little more but at least you are walking out of there with a clear understanding of what your buying.
