Should i buy electronics from walmart

Here's a story about Best Buy from quite a few years ago. They had a Maxtor hard drive on sale. This was right around the time that they bought out Quantum. At the time, the true Maxtor drives were decent but the Quantum drives were junk. You could tell just by looking whether it was a real Maxtor or a rebadged Quantum.

Well, I wanted to look at the drive before I bought it. However, they told me that if I bought it, I could take it outside, open it, then bring it back no questions asked! How dumb is that? I finally got the manager to open it - and it was a Quantum and I took a pass. He wasn't happy. At that time, they said nothing about a restocking fee. I find they take the time to consider your needs and lead you to the correct products. Sure you may pay a little more but at least you are walking out of there with a clear understanding of what your buying.

When I bought my Samsung P 46", they actually were at least They told me that they cut their advertising expense and pass it on to customers. Their built their core business on word of mouth and their excellent technical knowledge and installation techniques. If they are going to charge a restocking fee for merchandise which the consumer finds they cannot use, then I think this would be fair. Or better yet, just don't buy from any retailer that charges a restocking fee so you do not have to take that risk in the first place Last edited: Jan 16, David M , Jan 16, Newegg doesn't charge the restocking fee for defective returns - they only charge it when you "change your mind".

Bodge isn't big on Walmart's electronics. You just might find a lower price elsewhere. It won't be easy comparing model-to-model. Often, manufacturers will have product lines made specifically for one retailer which is a reason price matching can be a challenging task.

The specially tuned screens look good in the stores -- they're designed to -- but how will they look at home? What's the warranty? What's the track record of that off brand? One final note: If you aren't in a hurry Walmart always has killer prices on select electronics during the holidays when it rolls out doorbuster deals.
